ZRC® Cold Galvanizing Compound

Proven protection equivalent to hot-dip galvanizing. With 95% zinc by weight in dried film, ZRC® Cold Galvanizing Compound exceeds ASTM A780 and SSPC Paint 20 standards.

Equivalent to hot-dip galvanizing, ZRC’s Cold Galvanizing Compound is manufactured with the highest purity ASTM D520 Type III zinc dust. Meeting VOC standards in all fifty states, it passes ten-year subtropical exposure testing and exceeds ASTM A780 standards for hot-dip galvanic repair. With flexible application formats, our product is the industry standard in combating corrosion, for true galvanic protection.

Recommended Uses

  • Hot-Dip Galvanizing Repair & Regalvanizing - It’s a more accessible option for repair of worn hot-dip galvanized materials.
  • Weldments Repair - Our original compound can be used to repair weldments.
  • Inorganic Zinc Coatings Repair - ZRC is also effective for inorganic zinc coatings repair.
  • Long-Term Protection - It’s proven to be effective long-term protection for: structural steel, water and waste facilities, power plants, transmission towers and antennae, steel decking and bridges, and numerous OEM uses.

Flexible Application Formats

-Unlike hot-dip galvanizing, ZRC is portable, flexible protection that can be applied in a variety of formats:

  • Brush, Roller and Aerosol - Apply as received in the container. For brush application, we recommend only 100% Natural Chinese Bristle brushes. For roller application, we recommend rollers with a 3/8” nap, made of mohair or lambs wool (sheepskin).
  • Spray (Low-Pressure Compressor)
    • Atomized Air Pressure: 50 Lbs (1.3 kg/cm²)
    • Fluid Pressure: 15 to 20 Lbs (0.4-0.6 kg/cm²)
    • Orifice of Tip: 0.080 inches (0.20 cm)
    • Viscosity Reduction:4:1 Mineral spirits  -OR- 16:1 Xylene
  • Spray (Airless) - Recommended Procedure: Connect hose directly to pump ensuring a hose length of 50 ft. max. Use least pressure possible. Start at 1500 lbs. (680 kg) and increase as required for good spraying.
    • Pump: 30:1 Ratio
    • Hose: 1/2" (1.3 cm)(I.D.) Airless Type
    • Orifice of Tip: 60° - .026 in. (0.07 cm)
    • Type of Tip: Tungsten carbide, reversing
    • Filter Screens: Complete removal is recommended. However, if screens are employed, use no less than 30 mesh
    • Viscosity: No reduction required

A unique formulation of 95% pure zinc metal as a liquid coating, ZRC Cold Galvanizing Compound is manufactured to exacting standards in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The ZRC difference is made possible by ZRC's high zinc content (95% by weight in the dried film) of “ultra pure” (ASTM D 520 Type III) zinc dust, ensuring that more metallic zinc is available for superior galvanic protection against corrosion. This high purity zinc dust is compounded with a tenacious non-encapsulating binder using a highly controlled trade secret process in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The result is a self-healing galvanic film that does not require sandblasting for most applications, providing both up-front labor savings and extended longevity of corrosion protection.
